Angel: (Latin angelus; Greek aggelos; from the Hebrew for "one going" or "one sent"; messenger). The word is used in Hebrew to denote indifferently either a divine or human messenger. The Latin version, however, distinguishes the divine or spirit-messenger from the human, rendering the original in the one case by angelus and in the other by legatus or more generally by nuntius.

The creation of mexican wood handcrafts has been the constant evolution and influences of the different cultures that have inhabited Mexican territories. With great waste of imagination and ability, the craftsmen transform the most varied types of wood into a multitude of objects, which cheer and embellish our vital space.

The angels are represented throughout the Bible as a body of spiritual beings intermediate between God and men. The angels of the Bible generally appear in the role of God's messengers to mankind. They are His instruments by whom He communicates His will to men.

Thanks to the great credence in these beings, the craftsmen have inspired to carve their images in wood.

The carvings process begins with the collection of wood. The image is then roughed out. Wood-working tools are used for the finish work.
There is great variety in the images carved: animals and humans, saints and devils, bar scenes and religious ceremonies. The range is limited only to the carvers imaginations.

Our wood handcrafts come from one of the most prestigious places in Mexico, San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato, where artisans are educated from their childhood. San Miguel de Allende is also known for its beautiful architecture and a variety of cultural events such as the “sanmiguelada”, a mexican edition of the famous “pamplonada” from Pamplona, Spain.
